Messy Church

It’s noisy, it’s energetic, and it’s just a bit messy! It’s church – but no-one is expected to sit still and be quiet for an hour!

What happens at at typical Messy Church?

Kids and families turn up and register at 4.30pm. We usually start with a few outside games, before dividing into smaller groups (of kids and adults) to do some craft activities which follow the theme of the day. Past activities have included icing cup-cakes, making castles out of cardboard, making model tractors, treasure-hunts, making kites and making fruit faces. After about an hour, we go into the church to sing a few action songs, and put on a play or a puppet show. Then we have a story from the Bible and say grace before dinner. Then it’s time to enjoy a meal prepared by our team of volunteers, followed by dessert. We finish up at around 6.30pm. All ages are welcome at Friday Family Fun, but it’s especially designed for primary aged children and their parents or carers.

Holy Name Mallabula, fourth Friday of the month, 4.30-6.30pm. $5 per family.
